A new skating pond is opening up over the weekend.
Starting Saturday, residents will be able to enjoy a new outdoor rink at Borealis Park.
“With the majority of indoor recreation activities on pause, the Municipal Parks team have been working hard to enhance outdoor recreation spaces and create additional activities for the community to enjoy,” said Keith Smith, Director, Public Works.
The pond will be open seven days a week, weather permitting, closing every night at 11 p.m.
Hockey sticks and pucks are not allowed.
Due to COVID-19, people must come ready to skate and leave all personal belongings at home, avoid sharing any equipment, stay at least two metres away from others, and should also carry hand sanitizer with at least 60 per cent alcohol.
“It’s been over a decade since we built a skating pond at Borealis Park and are thrilled to offer this outdoor recreation activity once again,” added Smith.
More information on other outdoor municipal facilities can be found on the RMWB’s website.
