Alberta Loses Its First Physician to COVID-19

A Calgary Doctor is the first physician in Alberta to lose their life due to the  COVID-19 Pandemic.

That’s according to Health Minister Tyler Shandro who offered his condolences to the physician’s family, friends, and patients.

This is the third health care worker in Alberta who has lost their life to COVID-19 this week.

The first was Joe Corral, a 61 year old health-care aide at Bethany Riverview in Calgary and the second a woman who has not been named in her 50s who worked in the Edmonton zone.

Shandro went on to thank all healthcare workers for their tireless care, compassion, and leadership throughout the pandemic and offered his condolences to all who have lost a loved one this year.

The physician’s death was included in the report of the 25 lives lost on Wednesday.

It was also noted the doctor did not contract the virus at work.
