Fort McMurray Sees 59 New COVID-19 Cases, 23 Additional Recoveries

The active total of COVID-19 cases in Fort McMurray is rising.

The province announced on Tuesday 872 new cases across the province over the past 24 hours.

This raises the provincial total to 99,141 with 14,785 currently active. There are also 890 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 153 of which are in ICUs.

Locally, Fort McMurray added 59 new cases and 23 additional recoveries which raises the active total to 223.

The rural areas saw two new cases and no recoveries which raises the total of active cases to seven.

In total, 1,191 individuals across the RMWB – 1077 in Fort McMurray and 114 in the rural areas – have recovered.

They are among the 83,328 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 84 per cent of reported cases.

There were also 26 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past day – raising the total to 1028.

To date, three individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
