The fifth annual ‘Toys for Tickets’ program is raising nearly $6,500 for families in need this holiday season.
Drivers who received a parking infraction from December 1-15 and paid them by December 21 had their fines donated to the Salvation Army’s Adopt a Family Program.
Through the program, the charity distributes holiday hampers to struggling families.
In previous years, motorists were able to pay their fine by providing a toy of equal or greater value, however, the municipality collected all fines due to COVID-19 and donated them to the Salvation Army.
This year’s total got close to the amount raised during the first four years combined.
In total, the ‘Toys for Tickets’ program has collected over $14,000 in donations.
