Total of Active COVID-19 Cases in Fort McMurray Continues to Drop

Fort McMurray’s active total of COVID-19 cases is continuing to drop.

The province announced on Saturday 1,352 new cases across the province.

This raises the provincial total to 88,933 with 19,260 currently active. There are also 777 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 151 of which are in ICUs.

Locally, Fort McMurray added 23 new cases and 27 additional recoveries which lowers the active total to 206.

The rural areas saw one new case and one recovery, which keeps the total of active cases at six.

In total, 1,012 individuals across the RMWB – 902 in Fort McMurray and 110 in the rural areas – have recovered.

They are among the 68,832 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 77 per cent of reported cases.

There were also 26 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past day – raising the total to 841.

To date, two individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
