Annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks Still Happening, Random Draw Will Choose Who Gets Spots Up Close

The New Year’s Eve fireworks show will once again be happening at MacDonald Island Park.

Much like the Santa Claus Parade, space is limited with families and individuals needing to register to view the display up close.

A random draw generator will then choose who gets the spots by selecting from those who registered.

Those who are picked will get an email confirming their spot, which must be shown to enter the parking lot ahead of the fireworks.

After entering and parking in your space, you must remain in your vehicle. There are no food concessions, washrooms, or other amenities available for public use.

The COVID-19 restrictions are also forcing the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo to cancel the annual CRAZE event.

Registration for the fireworks show will be open until December 22 at 3 p.m.

The display will also be live-streamed on MacDonald Island Park’s Facebook page for those who stay home or aren’t chosen through the random generator.
