Fort McMurray Adds 20 New COVID-19 Cases and 16 Recoveries, Rural Areas See One Additional Case

The active total of COVID-19 cases in Wood Buffalo is slightly rising.

The province announced on Saturday 1,590 new cases across Alberta.

This raises the provincial total to 78,382 with 20,072 currently active. There are also 681 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 128 of which are in ICUs.

Locally, Fort McMurray added 20 new cases and 16 additional recoveries which raises the active total to 231.

The rural areas added one new case which puts the total of active cases at six.

In total, 854 individuals across the RMWB – 748 in Fort McMurray and 106 in the rural areas – have recovered.

They are among the 57,613 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 73 per cent of reported cases.

There were also 13 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past day – raising the total to 697.

To date, two individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
