For local non-profits are getting some help this Christmas thanks to the Harley Owners Group fundraiser.
The Oilsands Chapter 9991 recently hosted their annual Toys for Tots drive where they were able to collect over $11,500.
Throughout the fall, the group also held other events such as a poker run and 50/50 raffle which added to the overall total.
The funds will be split by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo, A Safe Haven for Adolescent Mothers, McMann Youth, Family and Community Services Association, and the Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club.
Meanwhile, Paladin Security is looking to collect donations for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.
The organization is planning to visit homes, which have signed up, where they’ll pick up all donations.
Those collecting the items will be following all COVID-19.
“This initiative is just a small way for us to try and do our part, to be better as a whole region,” said Matt Garcin, Fort McMurray Paladin Branch Director.
Those interested in donating can email [email protected] with their home or office address and they’ll receive a reply with a collection date and time.
Paladin will collect the items from December 14 to 17.
