Fort McMurray adds 27 New COVID-19 Cases, Sees 15 Recoveries

Fort McMurray is adding 27 more cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

The province announced on Sunday 1,836 new cases across Alberta.

This raises the provincial total to 68,566 with 19,484 currently active. There are also 601 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 100 of which are in ICUs.

Locally, along with the new cases, there were also 15 additional recoveries which raises the active total in the community at 226.

The rural areas did not add any cases and saw three recoveries lowering the total of active cases to 8.

In total, 740 individuals across the RMWB – 639 in Fort McMurray and 101 in the rural areas – have recovered.

They are among the 48,467 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents just under 71 per cent of reported cases.

There were also 19 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past day – raising the total to 615.

To date, two individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
