The Canadian Mental Health Association is receiving a big donation.
The Athabasca Oil Corporation is giving them $10,000 to help with the increased need for mental health supports since the COVID-19 Pandemic began.
“[We] recognize the challenges Fort McMurray residents have been through over the past few years,” said Jeffrey Czepil, Hangingstone Operations Superintendent.
“We would like to ensure the health and well-being of the residents within the community we do business in. The Canadian Mental Health Association – Wood Buffalo Region is a critical organization for our community and our donation will support their efforts during these challenging times.”
The funds will go towards faster community-level interventions and helping to alleviate pressure on the acute care system.
Meanwhile, CMHA notes 1 in 10 Canadians is experiencing feelings or thoughts of suicide which has gone up by four per cent since the first wave.
