Fort McMurray is seeing 26 additional cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced on Monday 1,307 new cases across Alberta.
This raises the provincial total to 59,484 with 16,628 currently active. There are also 479 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 97 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, along with the new cases, Fort McMurray added 11 recoveries which puts the active total at 208.
The rural areas didn’t see any new cases while posting one more recovery which lowers the total of active cases to 25.
In total, 627 individuals across the RMWB – 546 in Fort McMurray and 81 in the rural areas – have recovered.
They are among the 42,305 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents just over 71 per cent of reported cases.
There were also 10 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past day – raising the total to 551.
To date, two individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
