RMWB’s Active Total Of COVID-19 Cases Slightly Rises

The active total of COVID-19 cases in Fort McMurray is slightly increasing.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced on Thursday 1,077 new cases across Alberta.

This raises the provincial total to 51,878 with 14,052 currently active. There are also 383 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 84 of which are in ICUs.

Locally, Fort McMurray saw 13 new cases and 12 additional recoveries which raises the active total to 179.

The rural areas also added two more COVID-19 cases which puts the total of active cases at 28.

In total, 565 individuals across the RMWB – 492 in Fort McMurray and 73 in the rural areas – have recovered.

They are among the 37,316 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents just under 72 per cent of reported cases.

There were also 10 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past day – raising the total to 510.

To date, two individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
