RMWB Sees 50 New Cases of COVID-19, 23 Recoveries in Past 48 Hours

Fort McMurray’s active total of COVID-19 cases is increasing over the past 48 hours.

The province announced on Sunday 1,584 new cases across Alberta – the highest daily total since measures were first introduced in mid-March.

They also announced 1,336 new cases on Saturday, raising the provincial total to 46,872 with 12,195 cases currently active.

There are currently 319 individuals in various hospitals with 60 being treated in the ICU. Alberta Health Services is working to add more beds in hospitals across the province.

The community added 39 new cases, however, there were also 23 recoveries which raises the active total to 140.

The rural areas added 11 new cases, putting the total of active cases at 26.

In total, 525 individuals across the RMWB – 454 in Fort McMurray and 71 in the rural areas – have recovered.

They are among the 34,206 who’ve recovered across the province.

This represents under 74 per cent of reported cases.

Meanwhile, there were also 9 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 48 hours – raising the total to 471.To date, two individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
