MOB Goalie Wins AJHL Player Of Week Following Back-To-Back Shutouts

Just two games in and the goaltender for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons is being recognized by the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

The AJHL announced on Monday Evan Fradette as the first player of the week award for the 2020/21 regular season.

He was able to shutout the Drayton Valley Thunder in both games at Centerfire Place over the weekend, making a combined 49 saves.

Fradette is just one shutout away from his 2019/20 total after playing in 37 games.

He finished the season with a 13-18-3 record, posting a goals-against of 3.29 and a .903 save percentage.

Both games saw the MOB score three goals with forward Hunter Lamb scoring two goals in Saturday’s win.

Joe Clark scored the third goal in the game, while Hassan Akl, Taige Harding, Ty Mosimann accounted for the scoring on Friday’s season opener.

The Oil Barons are back in action this weekend as they travel to Lloydminster to take on the Bobcats.

They’ll return to Centerfire Place the following week where they’ll host the Spruce Grove Saints.
