Region Adds 20 New COVID-19 Cases, Active Total Sitting At 123

Twenty new cases of COVID-19 are being discovered in the RMWB in the past 24 hours.

The province announced on Friday 907 new cases across the province. This raises the provincial total to 37,312 with 8,593 cases currently active.

Fort McMurray is seeing 18 new cases and seven recoveries, putting the active total in the community at 121.

A day after reaching zero active cases, the rural areas added two new ones.

In total, 444 individuals across the RMWB – 373 in Fort McMurray and 71 in the rural areas – have recovered.

They are among the 28,321 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents just under 76 per cent of reported cases.

Meanwhile, there were also five new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past day – raising the total to 398.

To date, one person in Fort McMurray has died from the virus.
