Extra Cold Winter Expected for Northern Alberta

The long range forecast is looking like it will be colder than normal for the next three months.

That’s according to Environment Canada who says the cold weather is here to stay.

“This year we have La Nia, which is a pacific circulation pattern which effects Western North America and typically brings cooler and snowier winters to Northern Alberta,” said Dan Kulak, Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.

“We are expecting that phenomena this year.”

While there may be some warmer days here and there, Kulak says Albertans should prepare themselves for the cold.
