The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is canceling the winter athletic season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keyano College says this will impact the men’s and women’s volleyball, basketball, and futsal teams.

Cheer and cricket, which are non-ACAC athletics program, are also being suspended.

“The health and safety of our students and employees is our foremost priority, and we take all that responsibility very seriously,” said Dale Mountain, Keyano Interim President & CEO.

Team practices and training will continue during the semester as long as all Alberta Health Services COVID-19 guidelines.

This decision comes shortly after Keyano announced they would be conducting a mix of in-person and online classes for the winter semester.
