Fort McMurray Hockey Player Makes ‘Players to Watch’ List For 2021 NHL Draft

A Fort McMurray born hockey player is gaining the attention of NHL scouts.

Sebastian Cossa, goaltender for the Edmonton Oil Kings, is one of 36 players in the Western Hockey League being named to the NHL Central Scouting’s ‘Players to Watch’ list for next year’s entry-level draft.

Only four of the players are goalies with Cossa ranked the highest.

So far, he’s been given a ‘B’ rank which slates him in as a potential second or third-round draft pick.

Last season in 33 games, Cossa posted a .921 save percentage and 2.23 goals-against average.

If drafted, he would become one of the few born or raised in Fort McMurray to do so – joining notable names as Scottie Upshall and Chris Phillips.
