Yard Waste Collection Ending, Municipality Setting Up Pumpkin Drop-Off Sites

You’re running out of time to have your yard waste picked up.

The municipality will stop curbside collection on Friday with the program being shut down until the start of spring.

Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, flowers, weeds, plants, small twigs, and sticks.

Food waste, which includes pumpkins, won’t be collected.

The public drop-off area at the municipal landfill will continue to accept yard waste year-round, seven-days-a-week from 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, the municipality is setting up three drop-off sites for pumpkins.

From October 31 to November 9, residents can throw away their Halloween decoration at the Sobeys in downtown and Thickwood, as well as the Independent in Timberlea.

Pumpkins can also be thrown out at the landfill if accompanied by other recyclables.
