Fort McMurray Sees Active COVID-19 Cases Slightly Increase

The active total of COVID-19 is slightly going up in Fort McMurray.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced on Friday 332 new cases across the province.

This raises the provincial total to 21,775 with 2,836 cases currently active.

Locally, Fort McMurray saw five new cases and three additional recoveries over the past 24 hours. This puts the active total at 19.

The rural areas didn’t see any new changes keeping the active total at three.

In total, 349 individuals across the RMWB – 285 in Fort McMurray and 64 in the rural areas – have recovered.

They are among the 18,651 across the province. This represents under 86 per cent of reported cases.

Meanwhile, there were no new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 24 hours – keeping the total at 288.

One of the deaths throughout the pandemic was in Fort McMurray.
