The board of directors for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities will once again have a local representative.
Councillor Krista Balsom was re-elected on Thursday during the organization’s annual general meeting.
The FCM is comprised of elected municipal officials from across the country and advocates for municipalities by advancing issues to the federal government.
“I appreciate the confidence shown in me by my municipal colleagues and I plan to advocate even harder for our Region, Alberta, and Canada on municipal issues that affect us,” Balsom added.
She was first elected last year and sat on multiple committees such as Municipal Finance and Intergovernmental Relations, Women’s Participation in Politics, and International Relations.
“Councillor Balsom has been a proud and active voice for our region and our province, especially in the fight for national support on energy infrastructure and policy,” said Mayor Don Scott.
Representatives are usually voted in every June, however, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
