RMWB Planning To Remove Large Windrows Created During Winter Maintenance Zone Program

The RMWB is making the Winter Maintenance Zone program a little more convenient for property owners.

The program gets underway on October 15 each year, however, no zones are currently active as there’s no snow needing to be plowed.

When there is, residents won’t be able to park on the street one day a week to allow crews more space to clear the roads.

On-street parking won’t be allowed from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

People who continue to park on the roads could be fined or have their vehicles towed.

“We must continue to work together to keep our neighbourhood streets safe and accessible this winter,” Keith Smith, Director of Public Works.

Starting this year, the RMWB will also be clearing windrows over 15 cm left behind at the end of the driveway by the snowplows.

Before, it was up to the property owners to clear the snowbanks.

“We’ve heard from community members and we know that snowbanks left at the end of driveways are a challenge for many,” added Smith.

More information about the WMZ program, including which zone you’re in, can be found on the RMWB’s website.
