Fort McMurray Continuing To See Active COVID-19 Cases Drop

The total of active COVID-19 cases in Fort McMurray is continuing to shrink.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced on Tuesday 961 new cases over the past four days.

This raises the provincial total to 20,956 with 2,615 cases currently active. The majority of these cases are currently in Edmonton.

Locally, Fort McMurray did see four additional cases, however, there were also 10 recoveries putting the active total at 23.

The rural areas didn’t see any new changes keeping the active total at three.

In total, 338 individuals across the RMWB – 274 in Fort McMurray and 64 in the rural areas – have recovered.

They are among the 18,055 across the province. This represents over 86 per cent of reported cases.

Meanwhile, there were four new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 96 hours – putting the total at 286.

One of the deaths throughout the pandemic was in Fort McMurray.
