AJHL Kickstarting Exhibition Season Next Weekend

The Alberta Junior Hockey League is moving forward with an Exhibition Season.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions from the government of Alberta, the league will have two-team cohorts to start with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons playing the Bonnyville Pontiacs.

The other cohorts will be Drumheller Dragons and Camrose Kodiaks, the Brooks Bandits and Okotoks Oilers, the Calgary Canucks vs Olds Grizzlys, the Spruce Grove Saints and Drayton Valley Thunder, the Grande Prairie Storm and Whitecourt Wolverines, and the Sherwood Park Crusaders and Lloydminster Bobcats.

Each team and the community will decide the arena capacity limits, social distancing protocols within the facility, and the ticket sales process.

A decision on the next round of series will happen after reviewing each team’s capacity limit and measures set out by the GoA.

The first games will happen on October 9 with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons set to play on the road in Bonnyville.

The MOB’s first game at Centerfire Place will be on October 16 with puck drop at 7:30 p.m.
