The Wood Buffalo RCMP officer being investigated for the violent arrest of Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation Chief Allan Adam is having separate charges withdrawn against him.

Simon Seguin, who now lives in the Edmonton area, entered into a peace bond on Wednesday after being charged in 2019 for unlawfully entering a home.

The Mounties note he had tried to enter the home, while off-duty, and had an altercation with the two individuals who were inside. They couldn’t speak as too why he was trying to enter the residence.

Seguin was facing three charges, including assault, with each being withdrawn.

He will be required to provide a $1,000 cash deposit, attend counseling for mental health and domestic violence, avoid contact with the homeowner, and work 50 hours of community service.

Back in March, Seguin was seen on dashcam footage tackling ACFN Chief Allan Adam outside of Boomtown Casino.

The video showed Adam leaving his truck, taking off his jacket, and confronting one of the officers before going back into the vehicle. After getting out again, Seguin tackled him before punching him in the face.

Adam was charged with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest, however, they were dropped back in June.

The RCMP originally concluded Seguin’s actions were reasonable, however, Alberta’s Serious Incident Response Team has since been tasked with investigating the matter.

At this time, Seguin is still a member of the Alberta RCMP, however, he’s no longer with the Wood Buffalo detachment.
