Casman Centre Changes Name To Centerfire Place

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons will no longer play their home games at the Casman Centre.

The team will continue to play on the same ice, however, the building is changing its name to Centerfire Place.

The MOB have entered into a new naming agreement with Centerfire Energy Group – a heavy equipment contractor based on the Fort McMurray #468 First Nation.

“As a community-owned organization, we are excited to partner with another local company,” said David Fitzgerald, Oil Barons President.

“2020 has been a difficult year for many businesses in our region. The support we receive from our local partners makes it possible for us to operate.”

Fans will have to wait to see the Oil Barons in action at Centrefire Place.

The 2020-21 AJHL season has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An exact start date has yet to be announced.

“We look forward to welcoming our fans to Centerfire Place when it is safe to do so,” added Fitzgerald.

Meanwhile, those who plan on visiting the arena will need to wear a mask.

Designated entrances and exits are set up while additional signage, tape on seats, and barricades have also been put across the building.

Anyone caught moving the barricades or tape will be removed from the arena.
