A motorcycle crash north of Fort McMurray is claiming the life of a 46-year-old Fort McMurray woman.

On August 22, Smoky Lake RCMP and emergency medical services were called to Highway 831 after reports of a single-vehicle collision.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she later passed away.

Preliminary investigation suggests she was traveling north on the highway and lost control, striking the guard rail.

Smoky Lake RCMP continue to investigate the collision.

The name of the woman is not being released.
