Summer travel to the United States is off the table for a little while longer.
Canada and the U.S. have agreed to extend the temporary closure of the border.
Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair announced on Friday the border between the two countries would remain closed to non-essential travel until September 21.
Update on the Canada-US border: We have agreed to extend the measures in place by another 30 days, until September 21st. We’re taking this step to keep people in both our countries safe – because your health and safety is always our top priority. https://t.co/naYDR55yRa

The boarder has been closed too all non-essential travel since March 20.
Supply chains that deliver food, fuel, medicine, and immediate family members of citizens or permanent residents are the only ones allowed to cross the border under the current restrictions.
According to Statistics Canada, in 2019, Canadians took nearly 44 million trips across the US boarder.
