An employee at Fort McMurray’s Rona has tested positive for COVID-19.

In an email sent to Mix News, Rona’s parent company Lowe’s Canada says they received confirmation on August 10 that the individual had contracted the virus.

They note they last worked on July 26.

To help stop the spread of the virus, the building was extensively disinfected and cleaned as soon as they got the confirmation.

“These actions were in addition to the enhanced cleaning and disinfecting measures already in place. We also duly notified local public health authorities of the situation and explained the measures taken at the store.”

The store, on Manning Avenue, remains open at this time.
