Select homes in Thickwood can receive a free smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm.

Regional Emergency Services is bringing back the ‘Home Fire Safety Program’ for the seventh year, where select neighbourhoods are chosen to have these alarms installed for free.

This year, those living on Timberline Drive, Gladstone Street, Robichaud Street, Rock Bay, Roland Street, Rookery Bay, Ross Street, and Royal Gardens are eligible for the program.

“The Home Fire Safety Program gives us a chance to work with residents to ensure they are aware of the potential fire risks in the home while providing them with the tools to ensure they are prepared in the case of a house fire or a carbon monoxide hazard,” said Jody Butz, Regional Fire Chief.

Since its launch in 2012, the program has inspected around 1,400 homes and installed over 1,700 smoke alarms.

Interested residents are encouraged to call the Pulse Line at 780-743-700 to set up a time for RES to come to their homes.
