RCMP Investigating Possible Hate Crime in Timberlea

Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating a possible hate crime.

On July 22, a truck’s tires were slashed in Timberlea Landing, while a ‘keep Canada white’ poster and anti-immigration pamphlet were left behind.

The vehicle’s owner, who asked for his name to be left out over concerns of potential retribution, believes they may have been targeted because his wife is Filipino.

“My wife is Filipino and he did see us going through the parking lot, he targeted us because I’m white and she’s Filipino.”

The Mounties are asking anyone who may have surveillance footage, camera recordings, or witnessed any suspicious activity between 3:45 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on July 22 to contact them at 780-788-4040.

Those who want to remain anonymous can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
