Don’t Forget About COVID-19 Over Heritage Long Weekend

You’re being reminded to be extra cautious when enjoying the Heritage Day long weekend.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, is asking the public to continue to follow all COVID-19 measures when enjoying the extra day off.

“We must keep in mind that after Canada Day we saw several events that resulted in the spread of COVID-19 amongst friends and families.”

Everyone should wear a mask when possible, physical distance from others, and limit the number of guests at any social gathering.

“We all want to socialize and make happy positive memories,” added Hinshaw.

“I’m confident none of us want those memories spoiled with a loved one getting sick or friends and families having to isolate because we didn’t take simple precautions.”

Meanwhile, places like Peter Pond Mall and the Suncor Community Leisure Centre will remain open on Monday.

Landmark Cinemas will also be open all weekend.
