Suncor Facing Seven Environmental Charges For Alleged 2018 Incident in Strathcona

Suncor Energy is facing seven charges related to an alleged 2018 incident at their Strathcona County refinery.

The provincial government is charging the oil company for reportedly releasing a substance into the environment that may cause an adverse effect, failing to report the release in a timely manner, and five counts of contravening a term or condition of approval.

Each charge is under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act.

Suncor is slated to appear in court in Sherwood Park on July 29, 2020.

Mix News reached out to the company, however, they didn’t want to comment at this time as the matter is before the courts.
