Business Owners Receiving Additional Support Through Launch of ‘Startup YMM’

Business owners across the RMWB are getting some extra help to navigate these tough times.

The Wood Buffalo Economic Development Corporation is launching ‘Startup YMM‘ which will provide educational programs and spaces where entrepreneurs can work along others.

The concept was identified by the Wood Buffalo Regional Innovation Network as a way to help businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, downturn in the economy, and aftermath of April’s flood.

“The time is now for businesses to reinvent themselves, be innovative or change business models to be better prepared for the future, and we want to encourage and support this change,” said Kevin Weidlich, President & CEO of WBEDC.

“The launch of Startup YMM is an important step in growing entrepreneurship in this region.”

Business owners can now sign up for virtual memberships. Memberships will include a welcome kit, access to a private slack community, exclusive member events, and preferred pricing on programs and events.

“This small business incubator will be a source of incredible opportunity for the people of our region, especially students and youth,” added Mayor Don Scott.
