For the second time in less than a week, Keyano College is canceling a 2020 event.

The post-secondary school announced on Monday they won’t be holding their annual gala due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and the damage they received from the flood.

This comes after they canceled their annual golf tournament with the Fort McMurray Golf Club now set to slated to host the event next June.

The gala has been a big finanical help for Keyano in previous years, allowing them to fund different initiatives.

In 2019, they raised over $200,000 which was put towards student awards and bursaries.

Keyano says the safety of staff, students, and the public outweigh the need to hold these events.
