Some Other Solutions Receives $150K Provincial Grant

Some Other Solutions is receiving $150,000 from the provincial government.

The non-profit was approved earlier this week for a Mental Health and Addiction COVID-19 Community Funding grant.

SOS has been struggling of late to fund their programs as they’ve seen the number of calls spike due to the pandemic and flood.

Executive Director Jason King tells Mix News all these different crises are really starting to take their toll on people across the community.

“People are just exhausted. There’s just a ripple from the pandemic and the flood – there’s financial concerns that are coming up, there’s relational concerns coming up.”

SOS is hoping these funds will help relieve some of the burden on their staff.

King says employees have been working extra hard to ensure everyone who needs help receives it.

“We have again, like I said, double the amount of calls coming in and counselling sessions but they’re handling it well and with the team we’re able to leverage each others strengths.”

He adds they need more than $150,000, however, this funding will definitely be a big help.
