Local Pharmacy One of 20 in Alberta Offering COVID-19 Tests

A local pharmacy is one of 20 across the province taking part in a COVID-19 testing pilot project.

The Medicine Shoppe in Eagle Ridge is offering free tests to anyone who is asymtomatic or have no known exposure to COVID-19.

The government of Alberta announced the project on June 25 as a way to increase testing and help ease the burden on Alberta Health Services.

As of June 30, nearly 450,000 tests have been completed in Alberta with just under two per cent coming back positive.

“Whether you have symptoms or not, please consider getting tested,” said Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health. “You are helping us understand more about the spread of COVID-19 in Alberta.”

Those without symptoms can book a test at the Medicine Shoppe by calling the pharmacy directly.

You can still book a test on AHS’s website.
