RMWB Offering Support To Flood Impacted Lac La Biche

The RMWB is offering a helping to hand to Lac La Biche as they currently deal with flooding.

The county issued a State of Local Emergency on Sunday after the recent precipitation caused overland flooding and drainage issues.

This has forced some residents to evacuate.

In an email sent to Mix News, the municipality says the Regional Emergency Services Management Team has reached out to Lac La Biche Emergency Coordination Centre.

They note they’re prepared to offer support where possible, however, no requests have been made at this time. This includes asking for housing accommodations to help evacuees.

Meanwhile, the RMWB continues to deal with the aftermath of our flood.

Council is set to discuss whether to temporarily stop all capital projects in the Lower Townsite until flood mitigation is completed.

Administration is also working on an accelerated flood mitigation plan to better protect the Lower Townsite, Waterways, and Draper.

The flood has caused over $228 million in insured damage, while the province has provided $100 million to help those without insurance.
