Landfill Returning To Normal Hours, More Items Being Accepted

The Fort McMurray Regional Landfill is returning to normal operating hours next week.

Starting on Monday, it will be open from 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. The public drop-off scale will also be open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The RMWB is also removing some restrictions on what can be thrown away.

Residents can now toss away CFC applicances such as fridges, freezers, and water coolers, electronics, automotive oil, paint and other household hazardous waste, as well as aluminum cans which can be placed in metal bins at the drop off area.

The landfill will continue to accept household waste, mattresses and box springs, furniture, tires, scrap metal, construction, demolition and renovation materials, as well as brush, tree and yard waste.

Soil is also being accepted as long as residents following all accepted guidelines.

Recycling material such as paper, cardboard, and plastics will continue to be accepted but thrown away with all residential waste.

More information can be found on the RMWB’s website.
