You won’t be able to see the Fort McMurray Giants play this summer.
In a unanimous vote by the board of directors for the Western Canadian Baseball League, the season has been cancelled for all teams.
The league notes the safety of players, staff, host families, and fans are their number one priority and, unfortunaely, the pandemic is forcing them to come to the hard decision to abandon the 2020 season.
The closure of the Canada-U.S. border and the inability to allow fans to watch the season while social distancing were also taken into account.
The Giants said on social media they knew it was a tough decision but believe the right one was made.
