The RMWB is hoping to have the boil water advisory lifted for muliple neighbourhoods in the next couple of weeks.

They provided an update on Tuesday on the work being done to disinfect the water treatement plant and 375 km potable distribution system.

They believe it’s possible those in Abasand, Wood Buffalo, Dickinsfield, the Lower Townsite, Grayling Terrace, Waterways, Parsons Creek, and Thickwood will be able to consume their water normally within the next two to three weeks.

People living and working in Beacon Hill, Gregoire, Prairie Creek, Saprae Creek, Timberlea, Eagle Ridge, Stone Creek, and the Taiga Nova Eco-Industrial Park can expect the advisory to be lifted in three to five weeks.

These timelines are not 100 per cent confirmed and can change.

The municipality says they discovered structural damage in one of the Timberlea resevoirs which is forcing the neighbourhood to fall under the longer timeline.

Repairs are in currently being done and once complete, the reservoir distribution system will be disinfected and flushed.

Meanwhile, the advisory was lifted for the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre on Monday.

For the time being, residents are advised to boil their water for at least one minute before consuming. Water is safe for bathing.
