RCMP Arrest 31-Year-Old Man In Connection With Suspected Lace Drugs in Janvier

Wood Buffalo RCMP have arrested a 31-year-old man after finding possible laced street-level drugs in Janvier.

On May 15, an officer and two residents in the rural hamlet needed medical assistance after coming into contact with an unknown drug substance.

The Mounties believe certain drugs may have been unknowingly laced with an opioid such as fentanyl, carfentanil, or methamphetamines.

Two days later on May 17, the Mounties executed a search warrant on a home in Janvier where they found suspected methamphetamines, around $4,000 in cash, ammunition, and pellet guns.

As a result, Jesse Tyler Morice was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, careless storage of ammunition, and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

He has since been released and is scheduled to appear in a Fort McMurray Courtroom on May 26.

Meanwhile, the RCMP are reminding residents certain street-level drugs in our region may be unknowingly laced.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP at 780-788-4040 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-545-8477 (TIPS).
