Permit Fees Waived for Flood Affected Properties

If your house was affected by the flood and is having work done on it, don’t forget to get your permit.

Fees are being waived by the RMWB and the wait times have been decreased to the same day or next day for permits.

“Safety and supporting our residents are always a top priority and it is even more of a focus presently with the community in flood recovery and with the realities of COVID-19,”said Jamie Doyle, Chief Administrative Officer.

“It is essential that all contractors – including those based locally – apply for, and obtain permits, while working with us to ensure community members can safely remediate, restore and rebuild.”

Even if the work is being done by a company – it is still the owner’s responsibility to ensure a permit has been issued.

Permits are needed for building, electrical, plumbing, gas and gas appliance work.

Fines for not complying start at $500 and go up to over $1,000.

If you’re not sure what the rules are, call the pulse line.
