Province Fixing Potholes on Highway 63, Repaving Section of Road

Potholes on Highway 63 are set to be repared during this construction season.

The provincial government is providing $60 million to fix these craters across Alberta and MLA for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo Tany Yao says this will include the much-needed work up north.

“I’ve experienced it myself, so I absolutely empathize our constituents in this regard,” he added. “You’ll see more of that money being invested in the north where we have to deal with permafrost a lot more.”

The province is also providing funds to fix sections of Highway 63 from just north of the Parsons Creek Overpass to Highway 881.

They also providing $50 million for Highway 881 which will see the addition of passing lanes, a new staging/rest area, and improvements on intersections and roadside turnouts.

“We have a lot of heavy traffic, big machines that are using it to traverse and it’s good to see the provincial government has recognized that and investing in this large project,” said Yao.

This project, along with work on other roads in the north central region, is expected to create around 775 jobs.
