Virtual Food Drive Raises Over $100K For Food Bank

The Wood Buffalo Food Bank’s first ever Virtual Food Drive is raising over $100,000 for the organization.

The month-long fundraiser was held in April, starting off with a $25,000 donation by Northland Forest Products.

This event replaced the two-day Servus Spring Food Drive which had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We were pleasantly surprised with how well the Virtual Food Drive went considering this was something we had never done before,” says Dan Edwards, Executive Director of the WBFB, in a release.

“Not only did it raise enough to cover what our Spring Food Drive would typically bring in for monetary and food donations, but it also brought attention to the ease of donating online from home.”

They are thanking all those who donated despite the hard times many are currently facing.

People can still donate to the Food Bank by visiting their website.
