FMCSD and FMPSD Postponing Graduation Ceremonies

The Fort McMurray Catholic School District and the Fort McMurray Public School Division are postponing their graduation cernemonies.

This is due to COVID-19 as both want to ensure all students, their families, and staff are safe from the virus.

The FMCSD was slated to see 434 students graduate from Holy Trinity and Father Mercredi, while 308 students from the FMPSD were prepared to walk across the stage.

This includes the first graduating class at cole McTavish.

“Graduation is one of the most important days in a student and their family’s life, we haven’t made this heartbreaking decision lightly,” said Jennifer Turner, Superintendent of the FMPSD.

Both are considering holding ceremonies at later dates, however, at this time they don’t have anything scheduled.

“Please know, we are extremely proud of your accomplishments and thank you and your parents for the honour to be a part of your lives,” added George McGuigan, Superintendent of the FMCSD.
