RCMP Arrest Two After Fight in Flood Impacted Area

Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating a potential assault with a weapon in downtown Fort McMurray.

Around 11:30 p.m. on May 3, the Mounties were called to Alberta Drive and Biggs Avenue after reports of a fight with potential weapons.

After arriving, they arrested two men and transported another man via ambulance to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre with non-life threatening injuries.

He was treated at the hospital before being released. The other two individuals have since been released from custody.

The police note the three men are believed to be known to each other, while they don’t believe this is a random act.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 780-788-4040.

Tips For People Impacted By Flood

RCMP officers are continuing to patrol the flood impacted areas.

This has led to an increase in police presence as homes and businesses are being physically checked and secured.

The police are reminding residents to lock all doors and windows, to look into possible motion detectors, and to avoid mentioning you’re away from your home or business on social media.

People can contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers if they notice anything suspicious in nature or requires police assistance.
