Everyone who needed to be evacuated due to the flood will receive the province’s emergency evacuation payment.
The application process started on Monday, however, many were being denied because they hadn’t been evacuated for seven days.
The RMWB removed the evacuation orders for the Lower Townsite, Waterways, and the majority of Draper on Friday and Saturday. This meant many only had to stay away from their homes for five to six days.
A spokesperson for Alberta Community and Social Services told Mix News they’re now expanding eligibility for everyone who had to leave their homes.
Through the program, adults will receive $1,250. This is per person and not per household.
Those who are under 18 will get $500.
The GoA is planning to update the application process on their website as soon as possible.
