The Wood Buffalo Food Bank is planning to restart their operations in the coming day.

The non-profit’s building has been shut down since Monday due to the flood.

They’re now planning to provide 100 weekly hampers per day at two locations – one in Gregoire at Golosky Landing and one in Thickwood at the Fort City Church.

Everyone who lives north of the bridge is asked to go to Thickwood and those south of the bridge to Gregoire.

“With the expectation that we will be operating out of these temporary spaces for an extended period of time while we restore our facility, it was important for us to ensure we took the appropriate steps to set ourselves up to serve our community,” said Dan Edwards, Executive Director of the WBFB.

“It was so great to see our community come together and support each other while we did this, it is not an easy task and they did an incredible job.”

The Food Bank is running on a first come first serve basis with a tracking system to ensure each household can only access these services once per week.

They will be operating on weekdays only. After the 100 hampers are handed out, they will close for the day to restock.

Starting Monday morning, all community donations will be collected at both Sentinel Storage facilities in Gregoire – more information on this coming in the next few days – and select local grocery stores that were not affected by the floods.
