Evacuation Orders Lifted For Downtown and Waterways

The evacuation order is being lifted for the entire downtown core and Waterways.

The RMWB says residents can once again go home and visit their business as of 8 p.m. on Friday.

The order remains in effect for Draper.

“Along with my Council colleagues, we want evacuees back in their residences as quickly and safely as possible and I want to thank people for their patience knowing how anxious everyone has been to get home,” said Mayor Don Scott, in a release.

Those who return home are being reminded to continue boiling water before consuming and gas and electric may not be up and running at this moment.

Three cases of bottled water are also being made available for each household and can be picked up at the Peter Pond Mall parking lot.

People who can’t stay overnight are told to call the Red Cross at 1-800-863-6582 for information about available lodging and support resources.

Bussing is being made available for people at camps who don’t have their own transportation. The last bus will leave at 9 p.m.

Those who want to check their homes and stay at camp overnight can use a bus but must be back at the Peter Pond Mall parking lot at 10:45 p.m.

Busses will leave again at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
